On review, we separate the performance process from the offer, ask for more time in line with the Acas Code, and check what happens to her unvested share options. We also ask for an agreed reference and for the covenants to be narrowed to what the business actually needs.

What people ask before signing
Performance improvement plans came up in 27.3% of discussions, and 22.5% of those also described an exit offer.
This pattern is common in Manchester's tech and e-commerce employers, where a performance plan can run alongside talk of an exit. You do not have to accept an offer to escape a plan, and refusing does not end your rights. Ask for the offer in writing and take advice.
